The Mijas Secrets programme, promoted by the Foreigner’s Department, offered on the afternoon of Tuesday the 13th, its last route of the year, on this occasion, dedicated to Christmas and the work of local artisans. Despite the rain, a group of foreign residents toured some of the shops in Mijas Pueblo, following the explanations of an official guide.
During the route, the participants saw and learned about the process behind each piece created by the artisans, as well as the raw materials they use in their daily work, “that transformation that turns everyday materials such as esparto grass or tiles into unique and precious pieces, all thanks to the skilled hands of the artisan”, said the guide Sandra Gallardo.
The itinerary ended at the Puerta del Ágora workshop school, where the participants, who came from different countries, learned the esparto grass handicraft technique to create their own Christmas gift.
