The urbanisation project is now underway for Colinas de El Chaparral

  • This major urbanisation plan covers an area of 306.000 m2.

Town planning is moving ahead with this plan with a private investment of more than 5 million euros, which will be paid for by the developers who own the land

A few days ago, the governing board approved the urbanisation project for the Colinas de El Chaparral area in La Cala de Mijas. This was reported on Thursday the 15th by Andrés Ruiz (Cs), the Mijas Town Hall Town Planning councillor, who stressed that this is a private investment of more than 5 million euros paid for by the developers who own the land to be urbanised.

This plan will focus on four fundamental items: the new drainage system, the burying of the overhead electricity lines, the accessible pedestrian routes and the road separated from the dual carriageway. “One of the fundamental items of this urban development project is the improvement of the drainage system”, the councillor pointed out.

The works also include the burying of overhead power lines, since, according to the councillor, “there are still many places in the municipality where this type of services is in the air, so it is important that these are located underground to ensure the greater efficiency of the service, as well as an improvement in the general image of the landscape”.

The development project also includes the addition of pedestrian routes at several points and the construction of a new road separated from the dual carriageway, so that both pedestrians and vehicles will gain in road safety, according to the department. “Pedestrian transit will be much more practical and effective and, when travelling by car, the new road, which will be located next to La Cortijera housing estate, will mean that it will not be necessary to take the A7 to go from one housing estate to another”, Ruiz pointed out.

This important renovation and improvement plan covers an area of 306,000 square metres. In addition, all these measures will mean the creation of green areas, with 14,000 square metres destined for these zones. We are also “going to gain a sports area with 137,000 square metres”, added the councillor.

The Town Planning Department official assured that “the project has already been approved and we are currently coordinating with the Project Management in order to draw up the staking out act, which constitutes the start of the work”.
