The initiative is promoted by the Citizen Participation area and will reach all schools in Mijas.
This Monday, the fifth graders of the Tamixa school (Las Lagunas) have become citizens interested in the construction of a skating rink in Mijas. To do this they have played the role of skaters, members of a sports association or the technicians of the sports area. "We are more than 200 neighbours who are asking for a skate park to be built", said a group of schoolchildren in their role as skating enthusiasts.
To this end, in a fictitious manner, they asked for an appointment with the technicians of the sports Council in the Town Hall. The meeting was also attended by the councillor for Citizen Participation, Tamara Vera (PSOE), who pretended to be the councillor for Sports. "We are seeing what land we have available for it and we are going to take it to the mayor and see with him if the proposal made by the neighbours is viable", said the councillor.
As the mayor has the last word, it is better to ask the real one. Josele González has volunteered to take part in this activity. Of course, his interpretation was easier, he only had to play himself. The mayor thanked all the children for their involvement because, "in short, what we are looking for is for them to see how they can pass on their requests or ideas to the Town Council, because we are working precisely for this and to make their needs a reality; this morning we have tried to do it in a dynamic way, playing games, but I think we have done it very well because we have all taken it very seriously".
This project is called 'Raise your hand' and it is being introduced in the classrooms of all the schools in Mijas. "We wanted to show young people through the different schools we have in our municipality how we can deal with a proposal, how we can make it viable, where we have to go and how we can carry it out".
In this way, Monday’s proposal went ahead. Successfully! Even if it is a fictitious proposal, the mayor says it can be studied for real. All you need, as you have seen, is to have an idea, make it viable, know how to participate in its management and commit yourself to the town.
