After opening the two new car parks of Juncal and La Candelaria to the public, both in Las Lagunas, the Mijas Town Hall is now upgrading the other municipal car parks, both the Virgen de la Peña, in Mijas Pueblo, and the one at the branch offices in Las Lagunas. "The work consists of improving the fire prevention systems, ventilation, in the case of Las Lagunas, placing barriers and islands, television camera systems and also improvements to the pavement, and in Mijas, we are also continuing to improve with changes to the lifts and payment systems with new machines", explained the councillor for Municipal Facilities Management, José Carlos Martín (Cs), during his visit to the area.
The aim is also to equalise all the parking services offered by the Town Hall. "We are going to bring all the car parks up to the same level, both technologically and in terms of services, because the car parks of the branch offices and Virgen de la Peña have not had any improvements since they were built", said the councillor.
The project has an investment of 288,000 euros and is part of the contract with the company in charge of the maintenance and upkeep of the municipal car parks. The improvement of these car parks has also included the installation of charging points. "With this pre-installation, once we have the company in charge of operating these charging points, all our car parks will have their own charging points, depending on the number of spaces available", concluded Martín.
The work started one month ago and, according to the councillor, will be completed in two weeks' time.
