The First Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Infrastructures and Works, José Carlos Martín (Cs), and the Councillor for Contracting, Roy Pérez (PSOE), announced the new Los Santos car park in Las Lagunas construction works for have been put out to tender last Monday 24th. "The parking problem in Mijas is closer to becoming history. This long-standing neighbourhood demand is to be solved thanks to the Municipal Parking Plan we started in 2016. It has already allowed the construction of the car parks of El Juncal and La Candelaria, putting 668 new parking spaces at the service of Mijeños, and 234 spaces will now be added," said Martín.

Thus, the works are going out to public tender for 17 million euros and will have an execution period of 18 months. "Interested companies can submit their bids until 16th November through the Public Sector Contracting Platform. This is a major project that will meet a neighbourhood need and provide a solution for parking in an area where it is lacking and where there are many services around", added Pérez.

The Los Santos car park affects an area of influence of 103,000 square metres divided into three floors with 234 spaces and financed by the ordinary budget and the relevant budget modifications. This infrastructure, like those of La Candelaria and El Juncal, will not include architectural barriers and will be equipped with lifts, wide parking spaces 5 metres long, 2.40 metres wide, and 1.20 metres wide for people with reduced mobility.

Likewise, part of the places will be for subscribers and the rest for rotation. These facilities will have the same public prices as the rest of the city's car parks. The first hour free, from the second hour to the ninth, a single rate of one euro will be applied and, also, from the ninth hour to 24 hours, and a maximum of nine euros prorated in five minutes fractions will be paid.
