The Guardia Civil has reopened the Citizen Attention Centre in La Cala, extending the services of the former Foreign Tourist Assistance Office (SATE) in Torreón Street, number 2. "Following several citizen security meetings where we had the opportunity to talk with the Guardia Civil and the Government Subdelegation, we understood that we had to go a step further in the attention provided in the municipality in public safety. Thus, the until now SATE, Foreign Tourist Assistance Service, has become a citizen service centre that will provide a service to all those residents who need information or to process a complaint and avoid having to travel to Fuengirola," said the Mijas Mayor, Josele González (PSOE). He informed of the facilities' reopening on October 3rd. He was with the Government sub-delegate in Malaga, Javier Salas, and the Guardia Civil's captain in Marbella, Alonso Gómez.
In the opinion of Salas, this is a commitment by the central government to work "to improve the State security forces and corps" in Andalusia. "To this end, we have increased the public employment supply, and are also trying to increase the services they provide, hence this citizens' advice office. In the past, it was already a foreigner's advice office, which expands the services for any citizen, from attention to complaints, etc.".
The centre is in the old consulting room in La Cala de Mijas, where the Foreign Tourist Service opened in 2014. All citizens will have access to the centre to request information and lodge complaints, preferably by appointment. The Captain of the Guardia Civil in Marbella explained that through the official website, www.guardia civil.es, "you can request an appointment at this office in La Cala to file a complaint or any action that citizens may need. It is going to be the municipality's reference point".
This Citizen's Service Centre provides assistance to everyone, and not only in Spanish, as the officers are fluent in other languages, mainly English. The objective is to continue to be a safe area. "We believe that this is an important service not only for Mijas but also for the La Cala de Mijas area. We want it to continue to be a safe and peaceful place and for the Costa del Sol to remain a reference point for foreigners who visit us," said the sub-delegate of the Government in Malaga. "The Mijas families' safety concerns us all. This joint work promoted from the City Council through the Local Police would not be possible without the commitment of the Guardia Civil", added the Mijas Councillor. He was confident that the "alliance" with the Guardia Civil will continue to "bear good fruit". " It will continue to make Mijas a reference in tourism and in public safety".
