On Wednesday, 28th, the Virgen de la Peña Square will host this pioneering multicultural meeting in the province

Mijas will again pay tribute to its visitors with its “pioneering, famous and traditional Tourist Day”, as defined by the Council. Many tourists discover our lands’ charms and decide to stay and live here. The Councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs), states that it proves “the strong appeal” that the municipality has “for all those who visit it. We want to pay tribute and praise with this special day tourists and visitors because they are not only a strong economic engine but also a social and multicultural boost that enriches life in Mijas”.
Acknowledgement This tourist day will take place this Wednesday, 28th, at the Virgen de la Peña Square. “It is to acknowledge and thank the trust placed on us by all those who have chosen Mijas. They know it is a safe destination, supporting our offer after two difficult years,” added Martin. The fact is that the municipality has recovered its tourist levels after the pandemic.

The Tourist Day will begin at noon with a Flamenco welcome. At 13:00, the prize will be awarded to the winning establishment of the ‘Ruta de la Tapa’ de Mijas or Tapas Route held this year. “It has again been a great success in participation, far surpassing previous editions, as with each new event, our local restaurants improve their gastronomic offer,” recalled Martín. In addition, at that time will be the surprise prize ‘Your weight in San Miguel beer’.

There will also be free paella tasting and live music to entertain the audience, locals and visitors from all over the world, a “multiculturalism” that “makes Mijas a cosmopolitan town”. “This is precisely one of our great attractions, as Mijas is a town open to everyone,” said the First Deputy Mayor, who invited everyone to “spend a great fun and enjoyable day together”. “The programme of activities is designed to show the most genuine of our town, and thank our tourists for choosing us and visiting us. For this purpose, we will be using traditions so typical of our lands, such as Flamenco and gastronomy,” he concluded.
