She already had this initiative in 2019 and repeats it now, convinced that art can also be supportive. The artist Manuela Bernardo, fond of painting, says herself, since 2013, is presenting the exhibition ‘A touch of colour’ in the restaurant BocArte in La Cala de Mijas, located on Cómpeta Street. The proceeds from the paintings will go entirely to the association Mijas Felina. “In Mijas Felina, each member collaborates as much as we can, and I, in my case, try to raise funds with my paintings. Because we always need help”, explained Bernardo, member and secretary of the association.
The artist was born in Italy and has lived in Mijas for the last ten years. She is a student of Mirjana Lucic at the Universidad Popular. Bernardo uses acrylic paint and his exhibition, dedicated to Mijas Felina, shows his love for cats. A touch of colour’ is the name of the collection. According to the artist, the exhibition has colour as the protagonist. Also, the paintings she presents for the first time and the works exhibited before.
An exhibition of solidarity Mijas Felina began its journey in 2015. Its main work is the control of stray cat colonies carried out by the collective using the CES method (capture, sterilise and release in the same place). “There needs to be more collaboration and people to become more aware because cats are useful living beings for the community. It is much better to neuter than to poison them,” Bernardo said.
