Mijas Union Basket continues to grow and in three years has gone from 1 to 6 women's teams and more than 20 teams in total

Women's basketball within the Mijas Union Basket club has a name, Soroptimist, a group that promoted the creation of the first women's team three years ago within a club that was born with men's teams.  Yesterday, the club's board of directors and those responsible for the club signed the renewal of the economic support by purchasing T-shirts and the players' fees, which are reduced thanks to this international collective that is dedicated to working to educate, train, and empower women and girls, also in sport. "It's been our team for two years, the girls started playing basketball at the age of 8, and they have a lot of energy, and enthusiasm, ours was the first women's team within the club," commented Daphne Theunissen, President of Soroptimist International Costa del Sol.  For Mijas Union Basket it is another support on this road that is getting wider and wider, in a few years they have gone from 3 teams to 20 for this season, and in three years from 1 to 6 women's teams. "For us, it is a real pleasure that they continue to support the women's sports club, we have had an impressive growth, and thanks to this agreement that we are renewing, they help the club and the families with part of the players' fees," said José Manuel Gandiaga, secretary of Mijas Union Basket. The club is already facing the pre-season ahead of the competition that will begin in early October.
