The association 'Suspiros de Cuatro Patas' held an open day last Friday, 26th August, to show their facilities, the activities they carry out with the animals they have taken in, and to make a call for new volunteers to join them. After the summer holidays, some volunteers have decreased in number because they are less available due to returning to work, moving home, or studying.
Emi Jiménez is one of the six members of the association and "just another volunteer", as she points out. With this open day, they had a clear objective: "what we are looking for are people who want to commit to one shift a week, which is on average 3-4 hours, and there are mornings and afternoons".
'Suspiros de Cuatro Patas' is a small association that does fantastic work for the animals they have in foster care. They are growing all the time. They currently have 12 dogs in their facilities, but some are in foster care. We need more people to cover the morning and afternoon shifts, from Monday to Sunday. "The more volunteers, the less the dogs have to be locked up, and the aim is to socialise them for future fostering and adoptions", explains Sonia Gómez, a volunteer since November.
Gómez found out about the association through its social networks, Facebook and Instagram. Since then, she has not stopped collaborating. It is an experience she recommends because of the satisfaction she gets from "helping without asking for anything in return". In addition, "you share with other people having the same interests as you", explains Sonia.
The shelter is located on Camino Campanales in Las Lagunas (opposite Maderas Gámez). Those interested can get to know the dogs they have, the activities the volunteers do, and complete information about the association online through their social networks, web or by e-mail (info@suspirosdecuatropatas.org), or in-site, going directly from Monday to Sunday in the morning from 9:30-12:30 hours, or 16:30-19:30 hours.
