The Mijas Town Hall Contracting Councillor, Roy Pérez (PSOE), and the Infrastructure and Works Councillor, José Carlos Martín (Cs), have informed this morning, of the opening period for the submission of tenders for the execution works for the Camino Viejo de Coín road widening. "With this new tender, we take another step forward in the mobility plan, improving access to the town, especially to the Las Lagunas area, whose volume of traffic and the creation of new homes has increased significantly in recent years," explained Pérez. He stressed that "interested companies already have all the information they need to submit their bids on the state public contracting platform. The contract is being put out to tender with an estimated value of 6.2 million euros and the deadline for submitting bids is 6th September".
The project that includes the renovation of the connecting roads from the roundabout of the Terrorism Victims to Venta la Morena, will join the recently completed work to connect the Camino Viejo de Coín with the Avenida Miguel Hernández or "with the widening of the Camino de Campanales whose works are expected to begin shortly," said Pérez.
In turn, Martín assured that this infrastructure "will mean a before and after in the area's mobility, and traffic improvement. It will also include pavements, car parks, rainwater and sewage network renovation, street lighting, irrigation, and gas supply, in a project that will take 8 months to complete". "We are progressing according to plan to widen the whole area of the Camino de Coín to adapt it to the needs of Las Lagunas and at the same time adapt it to the high traffic volumes that this road carries," said the Infrastructure and Works Councillor.
As for the execution timetable, the Council is optimistic, as the Infrastructure Councillor points out, "if all the administrative deadlines are met, we hope to be able to start these works over the next year, and make them a reality as soon as possible".
La Cala-Fuengirola Coastal Path Section
Also during their appearance, they informed that the Local Administration will once again put out to tender the execution of the new sections of the Coastal Path between La Cala and Fuengirola, after the tender for its execution was rejected due to the lack of bids.
They have detailed that the procedure, before the approval of the revision of prices approved by the State and the Junta, has not been able to take advantage of the adaptation of the costs included in the same, so it has been difficult to receive bids.
They stressed this situation has been suffered by other administrations throughout the province, as reported in the media in recent weeks. According to the Association of Builders and Developers of Malaga, since January 2021 alone, at least 34 procedures have been left deserted in Malaga.
For all these reasons, the local government indicated it is already working to put the updated project out to tender so that "it can speed up, and the works carried out as soon as possible".
