The Valtocado collector works worth 10.7 million euros are put out to tender

  • An important action both for its economic value, and for the problems it will solve |

Interested companies may submit their applications until 7 pm, on the 4th of August

The Infrastructure and Works and Contracting Departments report the Valtocado collector works have been put out to tender. According to the Councillor for Infrastructures and Works, José Carlos Martín (Cs), this action completes one of the most important works on the western cornice from the sanitation point of view. It is “an action that already has the reports required by the Environment and Roads and which is twofold in importance: on the one hand, because of the economic amount, as we are talking about an investment of 10,768,000 million euros, and on the other, because of the problems that it will solve,” said Martín. The project will have a collector of 400 millimetres in diameter with a 12-kilometre route. “It will run for 12 kilometres from Mijas Pueblo to practically the coastal motorway and will eliminate the sewage problems existing in the whole area because we have a sewage treatment plant that generates problems. In addition, it will also allow the urbanisations in the area to connect to a sewage network,” said the Mayor, who added that it will also “eliminate both the internal mechanisms and the portable treatment plants while reducing a large part of the discharges into rivers and streams”. With a completion period of 18 months, the work will include a larger collector, and two smaller ones. Infrastructure and Works assure that, if the administrative procedures allow it, the works will begin at the end of the year. Submission of applications “It is a work of considerable economic value and of transcendental importance for all the neighbours in the area,” said the Councillor for Contracting, Roy Pérez (PSOE). Interested companies will be provided with detailed information and technical and administrative specifications on the contracting platform. “From now on,” said Pérez, “we invite all companies to apply on the State Contracting Platform until the 4th of August until 7 pm”.
