After years of negotiations and urban development operations, Mijas Town Hall has managed to give legal security to the area of Pueblo Don Silverio. This was announced by the Town Planning Councillor Andrés Ruiz (Cs) on Wednesday 13th, highlighting that "the Town Council has unlocked a problem that has been dragging on for 20 years for the more than 50 families who live in this unfinished urbanisation".
As the Councillor said, "many residents and owners of plots in this urbanisation could not even apply for a licence to build their house or to obtain permission for their first home occupation. Basic supplies such as water, lighting, and telecommunication, are not connected to the main networks".
The Pueblo Don Silverio urbanisation project approval entails, in turn, the urban development of the area, "which will be carried out by the Town Hall at residents' expense, as has been agreed". These urban development works have an initial cost of 1.8 million, "the price that goes out to tender, but the figure may go down depending on the bids presented".
The legal unblocking of Pueblo Don Silverio will also speed up, from now on, the processing of building permits pending authorisation while allowing the creation of a sustainable environment, as all the services to be executed will be underground, Ruiz assured. " The neighbours of this urbanisation are very pleased, and I would like to highlight, once again, the work done jointly with the Town Hall, as thanks to all this effort, we have been able to solve this problem after 20 years", he concluded.
