The leisure programme 'Live Mijas by Night' returns every Tuesday and Thursday to allow us to visit a craft market, which promotes the local economy and where we can find original and handmade gifts, undoubtedly the best souvenir for a summer holiday. This Tuesday, we stopped at the 'Cuero Morena' stall, which has been at this market for many years. "I usually make leather pendants and bracelets with natural stones and aluminium or stainless steel clasps," explained artisan Morena Villa
This summer, it brings us new designs, especially for men, says Villa. She is happy with the market's attendance this year. "I'm not complaining as we started quietly last week, but it always tends to increase, so we expect more people".
And after a bit of shopping, it was time to enjoy the show. Last night, the line-up from the Popular University dance groups was headed and directed by Berni Gabriel. Around 30 students took to the stage in the square last night, offering us a Spanish and Flamenco dance repertoire. It has been, they say, a course full of successes and awards. "We are delighted after a hard year of work to be recognised. It is always a pleasure, but the moment I enjoy most is on stage. The awards are great, but when I see they give their all and see the result, that is definitively the most exciting moment, when they are on stage", concluded the teacher.
