The city is already enjoying a long-awaited festival, which is full of activities, colour, music, and joy

Mijas is already enjoying the Las Lagunas Fair, which until Sunday, the 3rd, will have a programme full of activities for all ages. Wednesday 29th saw the start of a long-awaited festival after two years of pandemic without having been celebrated. The fairground and lighting opening, Children’s Day with the cheapest rides, the election of the queen (Carmen Leire), and the king’s Fair (Miguel Pérez) set the agenda. It also included performances in the Municipal Booth by the dance groups of the academies ‘Expresión’ (María José Bueno), ‘Aprende y Baila’ (Evelyn Bravo), ‘Universidad Popular’ (Berni Gabriel and Feli Gabriel), and ‘Ana Mari Tineo’.

The Mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), said on the Mijas 3.40 TV set, “ we have a fair full of activities and musical performances for all tastes. It is an open, inclusive fair, which always seeks that the Mijas people come to our fair to enjoy and, why not, visitors from other municipalities. I know they are also here enjoying themselves”. For her part, the Councillor for Festivities, Tamara Vera (PSOE), said, “ we have tried to make a varied programme for our fair. Each of our neighbours can feel included, in a day, in our Municipal Stand. Our young people can also have a day in the Stand and, at the same time, we have given a special role this year to the daytime fair”. For Vera, “there is no better reward for all of us than to see everyone’s smiles at the fair”.

On Thursday 30th, the elderly were the stars of the show with the Senior Citizens’ Tribute Dinner at the María Zambrano school, where the students of the Senior Citizens’ dance courses of the Popular University were in charge of livening up the evening. Also, the Grandfather and Grandmother of the fair were elected. Finally, Juanlu Montoya performed in the Municipal Booth, with free admission until completion.
Mijas Communication started on Wednesday 29th from the Municipal Booth live, its fair programme, which can be seen every day until Saturday 2nd from 9.00 pm onwards. For this reason, the news programme, News 3.40 TV, will be broadcast at 8 pm on those days.
