Until 20th July, the Mijas Pueblo Tourist Office will also be a space dedicated to art. The Malaga-born Víctor Escobar exhibits his quilling work in 14 paintings of different sizes. He has only been working as an artist for a short time, barely a year and a half. During this time already managed to create striking works for their realism and colourfulness. As we can imagine, he dedicates many hours and all his creativity.
" According to what we talked to him, and from what we have seen in the works he has on display, he is a magnificent artist, with a different kind of art as his works are on paper. He uses it to create different figures and pictures, ranging from animal figures to any other kind of element," said the Tourism Councillor, José Carlos Martín (Cs). "With such simple elements as paper and glue, he creates magnificent art works'," said the Deputy Mayor.
This artist uses the technique known as quilling, with which he feels most comfortable expressing his art: "it's all done with paper. It's a very laborious process but very rewarding in the end", said Escobar.
In addition, this technique, with which Escobar takes personalised commissions, has other uses and can be used to develop workshops with adults or children. "At the same time as you are constantly composing and working with many colours, you develop the capacity of the hands, the work, the mind. It is something that, independently of the result, has more functions than art. It is for many things: calm workshops for children, for adults to work with their hands...".
