  • The 'Noche Latina' of Mijas returns full of rhythms and beats.

After almost a decade without being held, the Latin Night returned to Mijas Pueblo last Saturday, 11th June, in the best Latin American style

After almost a decade without being held, the Latin Night returned to Mijas Pueblo last Saturday, 11th June, in the best Latin American style. A now historic event in the town, which returned with musical performances, dancing and lots of entertainment, together with typical gastronomy. The success of this night was evident. Many locals and visitors came to the Virgen de la Peña Square to enjoy the Latin rhythms. "We like salsa and bachata, and wherever we hear this music, we go", said Jesús Ortiz, who was enjoying Latin music with his friends. Ana María Cortés, another attendee, said: "Good atmosphere, very nice people. You can feel the energy, and I like this event". Even one of the waitresses, Fermina Mena, was happy with the return of the Noche Latina: "People were already looking forward to going out and having fun. We've had a tough time, so we're all looking forward to having a good time again".

In collaboration with 'Producciones Raíces', the Tourism Department of Mijas Town Hall once again held a night that strengthened ties with the Latin American people. "These beats, these Latin rhythms, sound again in our municipality", said the Mayor of the town, Josele González (PSOE), stating that it was "a great success. Both the groups that have participated from different Latin countries, and the participation of neighbours and tourists who enjoy this night, confirm that it was necessary to recover this event".

Success for local business

From 8:30 pm, the Mijas square offered residents and visitors a whole show with groups such as 'Mariachis al Son de Mexico', the 'Orchestra La-Tino Kali', or 'Show de Brazil'. During the evening, there was also a tribute to the 'Cuban Buena Vista Social Club'. The finale was provided by the Eddy McLean Orchestra. Also, the establishments in Mijas were in luck: "The restaurants and shops are full. They are also enjoying themselves, which is good for commerce and the local economy," concluded the Mijas Mayor.
