The Travel Blog Experience (TBEX) is the most important international conference and community of travel creators and influencers. With more than a decade behind it, the forum offers Mijas an opportunity to attract new tourist profiles. The First Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs), has been at the Palacio de Congresos de Marbella to explain "the benefits of our municipality. This way, Mijas promotion can be carried out through social networks' that are a fundamental tool. Communication is constantly evolving. We adapt to the formulas that are emerging. Blogs and social networks are great allies for tourist destinations' promotion. We could not miss this event," said Martín.
In addition to the two conference days, these influencers will continue to discover the Costa del Sol and its surroundings for another 20 days. "This is a new opportunity to reinforce our presence on the internet. All the people we have already contacted and shown our range of possibilities have been interested in visiting us. We hope that over the next few weeks, they will come to see for themselves what we have to and will be able to reflect this on their networks and blogs," added the Councillor.
For his part, the head of the city's Tourism Department, Juan Carlos Acevedo, has assessed these two days at TBEX, where some bloggers have already taken the opportunity to visit Mijas. "This morning, two Canadian influencers arrived at our Tourist Office to learn more about our main attractions, and they left delighted. We hope that, like them, other attendees of this forum will visit us, so the publicity we can achieve is important," he said.
New tourist profiles
Marion Hoogwegt, from MaXperience Spain, a sustainable travel and experience blog in Spain, has been living in our country for 35 years and is promoting the nation with responsible tourism. "I was missing direct contact with Tourism Mijas because I would also like to help them to promote and spread the word about tourism news and inform them about the possibilities that the town of Mijas has' ', said Hoogwegt.
Selfie Route
The department is exploring this new way of promotion, and this season has launched the 'Ruta Selfie', which highlights 15 essential points to visit in Mijas Pueblo as the views and landscapes. "We have opted, this summer, for this virtual 'word of mouth' initiative. Photos uploaded of our municipality on social networks do promotional work aimed at the whole circle of travellers," said Martin. He concluded by inviting all those who take a selfie to upload their snapshots under the hashtags #rutaselfiemijas and #turismomijas".
