A sunny Sunday morning always makes you feel in a good mood, but if it is done by walking through the streets of Mijas Pueblo and reading the verses that decorate it, the result is a feeling of complete happiness. After last edition's success, fragments of poems by 20 local authors are already in the streets of the historic village centre. The second edition of 'A plena luz. Poetry in the street'. The Mayor of the town, Josele González (PSOE), and the Councillor for Culture, Verónica Ensberg (PSOE), carried out this cultural tour on Sunday, 5th June, along with some of the authors. " In Mijas, there is a lot of interest in art, so the Culture Department and the Town Hall celebrate the great culture festival. We do it in our streets, in the open-air, so that all those who visit us can see and enjoy this art form in Mijas," said the Mayor of Mijas. For her part, Ensberg added that "we have been touring every corner of the town in these streets with the poets reciting their poetry. It has been a very emotional and beautiful moment. As Councillor for Culture, I am happy because it has been a cultural morning full of poetry".

An initiative that began last year in Mijas Pueblo, and "we are going to try to transfer to the other areas of our municipality, both La Cala and Las Lagunas. From the Department, we are considering spaces that could also be worthy to capture these verses," explained González.

As in the first edition, those interested can find a leaflet with the location of the verses in the Casa Museo de Mijas Pueblo and a free poetry book with all the participating verses in this edition.

The authors

The artists recited some verses in each corner where their poems are placed. The poet Adrián Madueño said he felt "very proud that part of what I write is on the walls of my town. I think it is a wonderful initiative because in these times, if there is one thing we need, it is culture, which has been in short supply lately". Rosa María Badillo, also a poet, said, "it is a dream come true. It is as if I had projected this idea, and now I have it in my hands, with my poems on the Mijas Pueblo walls. I couldn't ask for more".

In addition to Madueño and Badillo, another 18 poets from Mijas are participating in this edition: Amanda Gutiérrez del Castillo, Laura Benavides, Yolanda Pérez, Alonso Alarcón, Sergio Moreno, Álvaro Tamayo, María Leiva, Ana Cristina Salazar, Carlos Santiago, Guadalupe Eichelbaum, Josemi Gómez, G. Luna Pérez, Maite Martín-Camuñas, Noel Solís, José Enrique Parapar, Rosemary Claro, Lola García and Aroa Plaza.
