You can visit it at the Mijas Centro de Arte Contemporáneo until the 17th of June, from Monday to Sunday, from 10:30 to 2 pm

One of the three sculptures on display at the Mijas Contemporary Art Centre is the one by Fernando Sáenz, which tells, through Icarus and his wings, the beginning of the end of the coronavirus pandemic. "This sculpture symbolises the time when we were starting to be able

to leave the house. It brings images to our heads that we can start to fly, and this ball we had as ballast, that had us so tied to our place, now lets us think about flying", explained the artist. On Saturday, 28th May, the centre inaugurated the exhibition 'From North to South', made up of 33 pictorial works and several sculptures that bring together artists from Spain and Sweden, among other nationalities. The paintings by Carlos Menéndez also stand out from the collection: "I rely on nature to talk about the path of life. The birds bring joy, and the one with the leaves is part of a triptych about childhood. Youth is represented by the one with the leaves, and a third one, which is missing in the exhibition, would be maturity, which is a piece with withered and brown leaves", Menéndez explained.

Until June 17th

This work is responsible for promoting and spreading culture between Spain, Sweden and other Latin American countries. An exchange of art between nationalities will be available for viewing at the CAC until 17th June from Monday to Sunday from 10:30 am to 2 pm. The head of the Remedios Medina Foundation, Francisco Javier Fructuoso, pointed out that "when a group exhibition is on, everyone has their style, so the aim is to present a series of new artists, in this case from all over Europe, to try to make them known. It is difficult to bring them all together under the same theme, but here, we have achieved it by doing it in groups".

In addition to some of the featured artists, last Saturday's event was also well received by the public. "We are happy with the attendance and the inauguration of this exhibition. It is a combination of artists from different parts of the world, starting from Sweden down to Spain, but also with the participation of many other artists of different nationalities. We are happy to be exhibiting art", concluded the President of the Mijas Arts Centre, Lol Malone.
