An activity that returns to the municipality streets after last year's success and that, in this edition, will feature local poets, as reported this morning by the Mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), and the Culture Councillor, Verónica Ensberg (PSOE).
"Given last year's good reception, we are taking up this activity committed to putting art on the streets. On this occasion, we wanted to give prominence to our local poets, with an edition in which I am sure, we will all feel identified with some verse of the 20 poems we will place on walls and corners of our town," said the Mijas Councillor.
These poems are printed on vinyl to avoid causing any damage to the historic-artistic walls in which they are shown. As González emphasised, "add another attraction to Mijas, not only cultural but also tourist. Then, visitors stop in front of these corners and decide to take a photo to capture this setting. An image that then travels around the world and serves as a cover letter for an avant-garde town committed to literature and culture at all levels. There is no doubt that 'Poesía en la Calle' has come to reinforce all the attractions that our city offers to those who visit us in summer".
Plans
For his part, Ensberg recalled this activity complemented with a triptych map available in the House Museum. Those interested will know where these 20 poems are. "In addition, as last year, we have published a book of poems with all the verses that participate in this edition, which can also be requested free of charge at the House Museum," said the Councillor.
This cultural initiative was born "to bring poetry to the streets. We also want to highlight the literary talent we have in Mijas. From the Culture area, we will continue betting on our local artists and support them with initiatives like this," added the Councillor. He said that "we are already working to bring it to La Cala and Las Lagunas to continue promoting written and poetic culture in all of the municipality areas.
