The solidarity tables in La Cala de Mijas will enter the summer timetable from June, so we will still be able to help the participating solidarity groups with our purchases on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm. The Foreigners' Councillor, Arancha López (Cs), wanted to share the closing winter opening hours with the associations last Saturday, and support them with her visit, as the sales they make contribute to the charitable activity they carry out. "One more day accompanying all these associations that carry out important solidarity work to help others. One more day, I wanted to be accompanying and spending a little time with them as they are here, at their solidarity tables," said López.
The Lions Club, Animal Care, and Donkey Dreamland are some organisations that help people and animals. Thanks to stalls' success, they continue in the same spot in the evenings during the hot season. "We've been here for almost two years when COVID-19 started, and everything was closed, and the charity tents couldn't earn money for their work. "We've been here since then," explained Mercy Chapman, a volunteer. The solidarity tables, López recalled, were born during the pandemic to raise the needed funds to move forward. They have become a must-attend event and a showcase for aid and commitment.
