The La Cala Lions Club will organise this Sunday, 5th June, a big party in honour of Queen Elizabeth II of England, who celebrates 70 years of service to the British crown. The event in La Butibamba Par includes live music, food, drink, and lots of entertainment. All to celebrate the so-called Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee. "She is the longest-serving monarch in the history of our country and the second longest-serving in the world". Sandie Tavendale, a group member, affirms that "this party thanks the Queen for everything she has done for the British people, despite the problems she has had with her family, especially in the last two years".
The Mijas Town Hall Foreigners Department collaborates in this free event that starts at 1 pm. "In Mijas, there are approximately 9,000 British residents. It is the most important colony in our municipality, so the Foreigners Department will be there with them, to accompany them on this special date," said the Councillor for the Area, Arancha Lopez (Cs).
As part of this celebration, the Lions Club has also organised a drawing competition in which El Chaparral school and IES La Cala students have participated. This Sunday, prizes will also be awarded to the first, second, and third prize winners.
