The Foreigners Department of Mijas Town Hall offered on Friday, 27th May, an informative talk in English on administrative procedures and other issues of interest to foreigners living in the municipality.
The event took place at the La Cala Mayor's Office and dealt with pension plans, paying taxes, and the formalities of making a will. According to the Foreigners' Department Councillor, Arancha López (Cs), "many of our residents do not know the difference between having this procedure done in Spain and not having it done here. We feel it is necessary to give them this completely up-to-date information in their language to understand the whole process".
The financial company PCC (Private Client Consultancy), based in Mijas Costa, also collaborated in this event and spoke about price inflation and the economic crisis generated in Europe by the war in Ukraine. "The Central Bank is also increasing its interest rates to combat this inflation. We think it could be dangerous," said Andrew Oliver, Manager of the company, who recommended that those present "invest in savings funds and investment plans to minimise risk".
The talk was attended by foreign residents of different nationalities. López said, "There were retirees and young people who have their businesses in our municipality who are interested in learning about the procedures that can be carried out in our country, and the consequences of not carrying them out". Finally, the Councillor stressed that "Mijas Town Hall and the Department of Foreigners are always working to make our residents feel at home here".
