We only have ‘One Earth’, our only home, which we have to take care of together to protect its natural resources vital for all living beings that inhabit the planet. The Department of Environment will try to make us see this reality in a day full of messages. The Environment Councillor of Mijas Town Hall, Arancha López (Cs), highlighted the importance of raising awareness of caring for the planet. “We will celebrate this day in an event in which we will by groups committed to the environment and our planet.
They will provide information and raise awareness through dynamic activities where everyone can participate. We know how important it is that we all collaborate every day, raising awareness of our environment and planet’.
There will be activities for all audiences, with the participation of up to 10 environmental groups.
Environment technician Juan Luis Vega valued these associations and NGOs on this day to unite the two celebrations. We also want to make a tribute to World Oceans Day, which is on the 8th, and, as the 5th (June) is World Environment Day, we have decided to celebrate it on the afternoon of the 4th in a fun, playful way, where children can have face painting, and make murals with bottle caps. Also, spend 3 hours in ‘El Torreón’ and La Cala promenade reminding us of the importance of preserving the planet and that we only have one earth,” said Vega. Some of the activities are batucada, recycling gymkhana, the mock cetacean rescue, face painting, T-shirt recycling, and a cap mural. The activities will start at 6 pm in ‘El Torreón’ square in La Cala.
