The 'Mójate con la Solidaridad' campaign is back and will offer 6,000 tickets to Aquamijas

  • Free water park tickets in exchange for school materials in aid of the Red Cross
  • Aquamijas will distribute some 6,000 tickets that can be exchanged during this summer season.

This initiative, promoted again by the Youth Department, will begin on 26th May

After the last two pandemic years, the Youth Department of the Mijas Town Hall is bringing back one of its star activities, 'Mójate con la Solidaridad', in which Aquamijas and the Red Cross are once again collaborating. To participate in this campaign and get free tickets to the water park, they only have to bring three school supplies items in indivisible packs, "such as pencils, pens, notebooks, markers, scissors, glue, erasers ...etc. "The Youth Councillor, Tamara Vera (PSOE), also took the opportunity to "thank Aquamijas for counting again with the Consistory to collaborate in this event, which has a strong charitable character and will allow many neighbours to enjoy this park for free".

Regarding the initiative, the Aquamijas Director, María del Mar Asesio, said that "Mijas companies must also show support, and help those who need it most." Appreciating that "it is a positive campaign, not only because we are giving the option to come to the park to those who, perhaps, can not afford it economically, but also because, with a little thing, you help other families who need these products.

Campaign rules

The tickets are distributed and the material collected at the Youth offices, located in the Las Lagunas Theatre, on Mondays and Thursdays from 26th May, in the afternoon, from 3.30 pm to 8 pm. This year, they will have to make an appointment (from May 25th) through the Mijas Town Hall website(www.mijas.es) to avoid queues and to facilitate the tickets' delivery, explained Tamara Vera pointing out "this way, we make it easier for people coming from Mijas Pueblo, La Cala or the urbanisations to pick up their tickets in a more convenient way".

The person who requests the appointment is the one who must go personally to collect the tickets. Two tickets will be given out per user, although there is also the option of offering to a complete family unit as long as the corresponding school materials are provided. "They are individual tickets, but until 31st May and from 1st September, the same ticket will be valid for two people", said the Aquamijas manager, who assured that some 6,000 tickets are given for the whole summer season.

The tickets will also bear the users' name, so they cannot be transferred to another person, nor will there be any option to change the date.

School material distribution

Between the end of August and the beginning of September, that is to say, coinciding with the school return, Cruz Roja Mijas will distribute the school supplies donated to the most vulnerable families in the municipality. "We hope to reach as many families as possible. Last year, thanks to the citizen's collaboration and companies in the area as Carrefour, we reached a hundred families in Mijas. This year, I think we will double the users thanks to this initiative," said Ander Echebarría, local management technician of this NGO.

The 'Mójate con la Solidaridad' campaign will end on June 30th, or, failing that, when the available tickets are sold out.
