Mijas is identified, among many other attractions, by its beaches. So that both residents and visitors can enjoy them, the Beaches and Operational Services Department of the Mijas Town Hall is already preparing these areas by painting and carrying out cleaning work. The Councillor responsible for both Departments, José Carlos Martín (Cs), reported this morning: "All this work began a few weeks ago and will continue throughout the month of May. Even though it is not a large investment, it represents a significant undertaking in terms of the municipality's image," said Martin, adding that work is already underway on "the coastline accesses, and those walls that most beaches have nearby roads in Mijas. They are retaining walls, and they should be in perfect condition, as there are many graffiti artists, so we have to give them that paint job to make them look good".
Haze effects
The painting work was delayed due to the haze, as "it has forced us to restructure all the work for we have practically all the staff to clean up the storm's effects. We would have liked to start this work earlier, but we have prioritised cleaning the haze up in municipal buildings, for instance", said the Councillor. Thus, a four workers team is already in charge of these tasks that will act on the Mijas coastline accesses and other areas such as the "Los Cordobeses" area. The aim is that both the beaches and the accesses are in optimal conditions for the summer season.
