it is already in operation during this Holy Week daily and will be maintained on weekends until June when it will be again from Monday to Sunday

The First Deputy Mayor and Beaches Councillor, José Carlos Martín, announced this morning that the lifeguard and lifeguard service has started at the same time in Easter, giving the coastline a quality plus. "We are starting the high season and all our services are at the highest level. In addition to recovering the beaches in record time after the storm, all the troops are already covering our 14 coastline kilometres to ensure the users' safety," said the Councillor.

Thus, the service carried out by the company 'Socorrismo Málaga' has already begun. They will be daily, during this Easter Week and, after it, every weekend until June, when they will return full time from Monday to Sunday until the end of September. After that, they will continue the service on Saturdays and Sundays in October. Similarly, during all weekends of the year and holidays, the Mijas coast has two lifeguards on bicycles who cycle along the coastal path.

One of the most outstanding of last season additions that is maintained for this 2022, is the lifeguard drones that serve as support when carrying out a rescue or if a bather is in distress. It brings the inflatable lifejacket closer to them for faster action.  To carry out the work more thoroughly, the service has divided the coastline into 53 zones where, during the high season, lifeguards are deployed daily from 11 am to 8 pm which with rotations, and breaks, brings the number of personnel to 86. In this way, the staff is prepared to deal with any event that may occur as there are also 3 jet skis located in "El Charcón", one in La Cala and the other in "Playa la Luna", keeping safety guaranteed throughout the length of the municipality. The ambulance is basic life support, with a nurse and two technicians that also adds to the device.

"We have a quality service at the height of the destination of excellence that is Mijas, and that allows us to place ourselves at the head of the municipalities that offer, among other segments, 'sun and beach' in southern Europe," says Martin who adds that "the quality of the Mijas coast is displayed in many ways and, not in vain, has made the city worthy of 3 blue flags, 9 Q for Quality, an ISO14001 in addition to a path and a blue centre.
