For the first time during Holy Week, a shuttle bus will transport residents and visitors from the “Cantera del Puerto” to the centre of Mijas Pueblo. This was announced last Thursday 7th April, by the Mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), and the Councillor for Transport and Mobility, Nicolás Cruz (PSOE). “This shuttle bus will make it easier for all visitors who come to our municipality not to worry about parking. A service that, remember, is free for all those who visit us, and that for this Easter will be enabled for the first time from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday,” explained the Mijas Councillor, who stressed that the quarry “can accommodate up to 900 vehicles”. For this season, the Councillor continued, “we have high expectations, which is why we have made an important effort to improve the quarry. The access has been asphalted, shaded areas have been prepared, the lighting has been improved, and a toilet has been installed”.

The shuttle service will be available “from 11 am to 11 pm non-stop”, said Cruz, who added that “Renta Básica” staff will collaborate with the toilet and this parking area management that will be available for users until 10 pm”. 
A 55-seater vehicle will be used to bring visitors to the “Cantera del Puerto” to the centre of the village. “A state-of-the-art bus adapted for people with reduced mobility. And, in terms of health, safety is guaranteed, as the air is replaced in an average of between two and a half and four minutes”, said the company manager responsible for the service, Juan Antonio Jiménez.
