Born in Madrid, the architect José María Valencia presents a new sculpture exhibition, the result of the work of the last two years, anthropomorphic works in wood. "Nature is to blame. It has prompted me to make this work, and also the pandemic loneliness. It is a work that is a little introverted, almost monastic", says José María Valencia.
After his retirement, he got fully involved in sculpture, working in stone. "Previously, I had done some sculpture in a circumstantial way. When I retired I devoted myself to sculpture, and only then did I find what should have been my profession", says the sculptor.
His characters include companions, disabled war, archers and watchmen. The Culture Department invites you to visit this collection, which will be on display until 23rd April in La Cala de Mijas Cultural Centre. "We invite all culture lovers to come and visit the work of José María Valencia and see the quality of his works in stone, wood and bronze, full of life," said the Culture Councillor, Verónica Ensberg (PSOE).
Soon, you will see a programme on Mijas 3.40 TV, in the space "Nuestra Tierra".
