The Vírgen de la Peña Square, the House Museum and the Santana neighbourhood were some of the places that the Mijas Secrets' participants visited last Friday. This programme, which offers guided tours of the municipality for foreign residents, is now in its fourth edition. On that occasion, it focused on learning about the town's history.

Last Friday's route, 'Memories', led these residents through the hidden streets and the most emblematic places to learn about the town’s transformation over the last century. The Foreigners Councillor, Arancha López (Cs), who also attended the route said that "we have had a group of 13 Danes who were very interested in this programme and in this activity with which they can discover the Mijas history". Moreover, she said, "these are stories that they discover thanks to the programme. As if they go on their own, they go for walks but they do not know some of the most special places that only the locals know".

Mijas Secrets is much more than just sightseeing, as it also involves the local people and businesses who interact with foreigners in this way. "It is fantastic to discover the local people, how they used to live in the old days, and how friendly they were. It's very interesting to learn about history and realise how important it is to learn about how life used to be. I love it," said Kim Nilson, one of the participants. Her partner, Gitter Hoejer added that "I have been to Mijas many times, shopping, eating, but never discovering its history and the truth is that it is very interesting to be here knowing its past".

The next Mijas Secrets tour will be on the 27th of March, and will have the same theme 'Memories'. Participants will enjoy a tour of the historical corners of the village. You can register by phone at 678 155 553 and 686 454 717 or by emailing mijassecrets@gmail.com. The price is 15 euros and includes a drink.
