The measure will come into force immediately after the Royal Decree is published in the Official State Bulletin (BOE), which could take place on Tuesday.

The Ministers' Council plans to approve next Tuesday, February 8th, the Royal Decree that eliminates the compulsory use of masks outdoors, as confirmed by the Health Minister, Carolina Darias, on the radio station Ser. A measure that would come into force, immediately after its publication, in the Official State Bulletin, a publication that could be delayed until Wednesday, they say.

The Government considers that given the evolution of the sixth wave of the pandemic, with a consolidated decrease in all indicators, this measure can be adopted, just a week after, Congress validated the extension period of the compulsory outdoors masks decree.

Minister Darias stressed that the review of the use of masks was close and that their compulsory use in the street "was only for a strictly essential period".
