If you live in Mijas and would like to learn how to grow your fruit and vegetables, Soroptimist International Costa del Sol, in collaboration with the Mijas Town Hall Foreigners Department, makes it easy for you. With the help of Antonia Núñez, President of the Association Alegría de la Huerta, foreign residents can learn the techniques to have their vegetable garden.
It is a new project launched by this association, which has been collaborating in the ‘Sustainable Food Systems’ initiative, promoted by the United Nations since last year. According to one of Soroptimist International members, Ana Skou, “these workshops are part of a project we started last year. We had talks in Mijas, Malaga and Seville, and we wanted to continue this year”.
The workshops are on 19th February, 12th March, 9th April, 14th May and 11th June, from 11 am to 1 pm in Valtocado, at the Alegría de La Huerta Association Headquarters. The registration fee is 25 euros, and each workshop costs 5 euros. In addition, the Foreigners Department Councillor, Arancha López (Cs), stressed that “it is an activity focused on foreign residents of the municipality, as it will be in Spanish and English”.
For her part, Núñez said that “we will try to ensure that all participants have a good time”.
Registration can be made by emailing soroptimis.fsd@gmail.com and the price includes, among other things, a drink and a tapa at the end of the day.
