Operational Services has already begun work on remodelling the pavement and improving accessibility in Las Lagunas Sector 31 area. As part of the ‘Plan de renovación municipal del pavimento’ (Municipal Pavement Renovation Plan) the streets that are undergoing the works are: Pablo Neruda, León Felipe, Álvaro Mutis and Octavio Paz. The Area Councillor José Carlos Martín (Cs) visited the site on Tuesday 25th. He stated that “the works will be carried out on an area of 1,450 square metres and have a completion period of approximately three months”. He also explained that “yesterday, we began work to eliminate architectural barriers and improve the flooring, replacing the white flooring with a more homogeneous slate-coloured one that we have been using throughout the municipality and, above all, to improve accessibility to this area”.
The action involves an investment of 125,000 euros, and according to Martin words, it is “a very requested action, as some years ago, we made a comprehensive refurbishment of the entire Sector 31 area, and some streets were left behind. Precisely, these streets that we are now in, are the ones we are working. In this way, the ‘Plan de renovación municipal del pavimento’ reinforces the actions and the previous integral refurbishment carried out in sector 31 of Las Lagunas. This is happening, after finishing one of La Cala Boulevard phases, where architectural barriers have already been removed and pedestrian crossings with pictograms for people with autism spectrum have been installed, in an action of 900 square metres. Also, it is worthwhile mentioning that 70,000 euros of investment, an Acosol pipe has also been renewed for the improvement of the service. Mijas Town Hall apologises for any inconvenience these works may cause.
