Mijas supports hoteliers by organising a special Christmas events programme

The aim is for the city to remain a quality and safe destination

The first Deputy Mayor of Mijas and Councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs),has  received the new territorial vice-president of the city of the Association of Hotel Entrepreneurs of the Costa del Sol (Aehcos), Juan Miguel Marcos, with whom he held a working meeting. "From the City Council, we go hand in hand with all entrepreneurs who generate jobs and are revulsive in our local economy. The Mijas hotel plant is very important to maintain those jobs linked to tourism which is one of our major industries," said the Councillor who added that "from the local government are organising events and initiatives, in addition to the traditional tourism promotion, to attract visitors and energise the city, thus, providing more opportunities  to promote possible overnight stays".

In this sense, Martin has highlighted: "the procession of the Virgen de Los Dolores, the Nativity scenes that have been set up in the city, the pastoral concerts and Christmas carols, the guided tours to show how Christmas sweets are made as well as many other performances that are planned until the Three Wise Men pass", as attractions that come to complete the tourist offer of the municipality.

For his part, Marcos has stressed that "the province of Malaga has recorded an average occupancy rate of 64 per cent, which is a relief for the sector, considering that the forecast was around 52 per cent" to which he has added that "Christmas and New Year's Eve are also very important dates for Malaga hotels".

"The arrival of tourists to Mijas means consumption in restaurants, shops, small stalls or kiosks as well as word of mouth from the traveller who can recommend us in their place of origin,"has  said the first Deputy Mayor, who has added that "it is not only about loyalty but also about increasing arrivals, so the quality of all our services and experiences is essential.
