Public transport arrives in Valtocado

  • The Mayor of Mijas and the Councillor for Transport in the company of representatives of the Consortium and Avanza, the vice-president of the AVValtocado and Paqui Lavado

The M-222 line will extend its route, as will the M-223 line, which will bring users closer to urbanisations such as Mijas Golf

The residents of Valtocado will finally be able to get to their neighbourhood by bus. As announced on Thursday 9th, Mayor Josele González (PSOE) together with the Mayor of Transport and Mobility, Nicolás Cruz (PSOE), the M-222 line, which until now reached El Barrio, extends its route to Valtocado, thus fulfilling, says the local government, a historical demand of the residents of this area of Mijas Pueblo. “For this government team is an absolute priority to bring all municipal services to all Mijeños and Mijeñas, wherever they live. With this extension of the line, which will be effective from Monday 13 December, we will connect El Barrio with this scattered area, encouraging many residents of Valtocado to use public transport to travel to the village. In addition, this line M-222 will extend its frequencies from four to eight days and will also provide service on Sundays,” said the Mijas councillor, who wanted to highlight the close collaboration of the Metropolitan Transport Consortium of the Malaga Area with the Mijas council “responding to our requests practically on demand, and that is very important to continue improving the existing lines and respond to all the needs of a municipality as dispersed and complex as Mijas”.

Line M-223 The M-122 line is not the only one that will see its route and frequency modified from Monday 13th. “The other line that we are going to extend is the M-223 line, which brings the residents of Entrerríos to Las Lagunas and which, in this case, is going to extend its route to cover the Mijas Golf area. The route will be extended to the area of Pueblo Mijitas and a detour will also be made to meet the needs of the municipal depot,” added Cruz, who presented the new developments together with the managing director of the Malaga Area Metropolitan Transport Consortium, Javier Berlanga; the consortium’s technical director, Francisco Perea; the area coordinator of Avanza (the company that runs the service), María Dolores Plaza; the director of its division, Rafael Durbán, and the operations manager, José María Sanabria.
