From December 8th to the 5th of January you can visit the sixth edition of the Solidarity Tree Route in Mijas Pueblo. An initiative promoted by the Alegría de la Huerta Andaluza (AHA). "This year we have 22 solidarity trees with the participation of businesses, families who are involved, associations or brotherhoods, the library, in short, there are many people involved and the town is committed to this initiative," said the president of AHA.

Recycled materials have been used to make each of these trees. Thus, we are contributing to the sustainability of the planet and giving visibility to the importance of reusing and recycling what is no longer in use. "I'm making one with mussel shells and palms from the countryside, with these two elements, it's looking very good," said the president.

The Mijas Town Hall is collaborating with this solidarity route through different areas such as Tourism, Energy and Efficiency or Basic Income, among others. "We are very happy to recover this route of solidarity trees and to have again this Christmas complete with this type of actions and events, that looked even better with the inauguration of the lighting this last Sunday 5th", said the Mayor.

For his part, the Councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs), highlighted the tourist attraction of this event every time it is organised: "This type of initiative is another year what adds a tourist and commercial attraction to the city, in addition to its charitable nature. After the health, the economic and social crisis that has hit on us over the last two years, these actions are very necessary to help boost the economy and attract visitors who, in addition to seeing these curious and creative pieces, can enjoy our restaurants and shops and take the opportunity to visit one of the most important Mediterranean villages in Andalusia while they do their Christmas shopping in an area that is also of interest to craftsmen".

They have also highlighted the charitable nature of the event, as it will serve to help needy families in the municipality through Caritas. "The social commitment comes not only through donations, but the whole Mijas society, which is involved in this activity through volunteers who devote their time to decorating each of these trees," said Gonzalez.

Martin also put into value the solidarity action that promotes this route and took the opportunity to thank the Alegría de la Huerta Andaluza for "the dedication and involvement they have in this event".

Anyone who wants to help can buy a triptych for one euro, which will be used to vote for each of the participating trees and enter a draw to be held on January 5th. They can be purchased at the Bootello pharmacy, the Siete Caños health care store, and in the Tourism Office. It is clear that this route of solidarity trees will not leave anyone indifferent, many surprises are expected and there will even be a tree dedicated to one of the icons of Mijas, the donkey.
