The Mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), has signed this morning the decrees of restructuring of the local government after the municipal executive has dismissed Councillor Juan Carlos Maldonado, who held only the position of first Deputy Mayor. Thus, José Carlos Martín (Cs) becomes the first Deputy Mayor of Mijas and Councillor Arancha López (Cs) becomes the seventh Deputy Mayor and joins the Local Government Board. Councillors Andrés Ruiz (Cs) and Mariló Olmedo (Cs) hold the third and fifth Deputy Mayoral positions, respectively. Apart from these appointments, according to the government team, "the day to day reality in Mijas does not change, as Maldonado has already left his delegations in the municipality to go to the Provincial Council of Malaga, so the work continues as it was until now".
