Last Friday, the Finca Acebedo received the visit of two researchers who have moved from Madrid, as part of the works framed in the General Project of Archaeological Research that is being carried out there. The Mayor, Josele González (PSOE), received these professionals who are part of the team working on up to 20 archaeological sites dating from the 8th century BC to the 6th century AD, found at this site where research work continues. The Councillor for Historical Heritage, Laura Moreno (PSOE) explained the importance of this work: "For us, this collaboration is very important to reconstruct the history of our ancestors and it is important for the team that is part of this archaeological site. New structures are continually emerging," Moreno points out.
An ambitious project that, due to its delicate state, will still take years to be completed. Little by little, professionals are joining the work team to study this site located on a large plot of land such as the Finca Acebedo. "They are members of the Madrid Autonomic University, and they collect samples to get to know the whole environment of the project that is under investigation," says Juan José de la Rubia, head of the area.
The team is trying to reconstruct the life and customs of these settlements, as well as the characteristics of the orographic and environmental surroundings, which are of vital importance for the life of the people. "Something very interesting when one reconstructs the evolution of a landscape that is more than 600 years old, because it give us relevant data about climatic changes, earthquakes...", says Carlos Arteaga, professor of Geomorphology. The researchers work hard to know the territory, the ditches, soil or sediments, everything is analysed in detail, because everything is important to know more about our past.
