Last Sunday the 24th, the Council for the Environment organised an informative walk along the Coastal Path. Along the route, participants discovered natural beauties such as the so-called ‘Cabos Rocosos’ (rocky strands), which are protected areas due to their high ecological value. This is an environmental education initiative integrated into the “Days along the Coastal Path” programme. “It is a very enjoyable activity for all ages and all those who come along leave with greater appreciation for our natural ecosystem, which helps them to value their surroundings much more”, assured the councillor for the Environment, Arancha López (Cs), who added that the seabed has “wonderful diversity that deserves to be known about and protected”. “It is quite interesting to know more about the biodiversity in Mijas, and it helps to educate us about how we have to treat our beaches in order to be able to maintain them as best as possible, both for ourselves and for the future generations”, said Jesús Tubío, one of the participants. Area technician, Juan Luis Vega, explained: “This is a new edition of the popular ‘Walks along the Coastal Path’ programme that we organise during the year”. The route takes about three hours, with interpretive stops. The Town Hall is committed to promoting the environmental wealth in Mijas by organising more activities like this.
