The Mijas Town Hall has promoted different actions to reactivate the local economy and to alleviate the crisis due to COVID-19. To the OREA and Cometha Plan, the first marketplace in Mijas is to be added: www.yomequedoenmijas.com. “

A large number of shops of different types will have a place in the same digital space, where in addition to being quick, intuitive, agile and very professional, they will be able to launch their offers and main products to especially boost local commerce, which was something fundamental for this government team”, valued the mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE).

This initiative of the Department of Commerce already has 170 member establishments, which have not hesitated to promote themselves and open the doors of their business to the world through this platform, active on the Internet since Wednesday 20th.

“Each of these businesses already they have their optioins to be able to manage their ‘shop windows’, and from now on they can upload all their products, services and offers so that they reach the residents of the municipality, in short, what we want is to continue promoting and enhancing local commerce”, stated the councillor for Commerce in the Mijas Town Hall, Natalia Martínez (PSOE).

Merchants’ valuation

During the presentation of the new ‘yomequedoenmijas.com’ platform, held at the Mijas Town Hall, the businesspersons adhering to this online sales option thanked the local Government Team for its firm commitment to promoting and invigorating local commerce.

“We were closed during the pandemic and we opened in July, which was when my partner and I thought about starting up a website, but we didn’t really know how to do it and that’s when the Local Council offered us this opportunity and we are very grateful”, stated Yoko Kuroa, owner of Amapola. Along the same line, Roberto Azcurra, from La Tarara Mueble, stated: “I only have words of gratitude for the Town Hall,  with the OREA Plan and all the aid they are giving us due to the pandemic, and the truth is that they have not let us fall and they have given us a hand looking for help for our sector”.
