The councillor for the Environment, Arancha López (Cs), presented last Wednesday the 13th an activity within the programme ‘Days along the Coastal Path’ that will take place next Sunday, October 24th, at 10 hours and will start from the parking lot in Las Mimosas, on the Bombo beach.
“It is an environmental education activity so that those who attend can learn more about this area, which is under special conservation and is protected at European level, so they will be able to know the reason for such protection and the wealth in fauna and flora we have. In addition, during the day we will see the migratory birds that there are in this natural corridor”, indicated the councillor.
For his part, the department technician, Juan Luis Vega, stressed that “it is a round trip walk along the ‘Senda Litoral’ (Coastal Path), of around three hours, where we will make stops to interpret the biodiversity on the coast of Mijas, showing both the vegetation and the fauna, and especially, the number of birds on the coast, if the weather permits”.
The activity is totally free and has places limited to 20 attendees, of which a part will be reserved for people with reduced mobility, since it is a walk adapted to said accessibility.
To reserve a place, you can do so through the email medioambiente@mijas.es. The department advises participants to wear appropriate clothing and, above all, protection from the sun. The councillor also announced that they have planned more activities to learn about the environmental wealth of the municipality, which they will announce as the weeks go by.
In addition, Arancha López invited “everyone to have fun in these free activities, since we organise them from the department with great affection so that we all enjoy the environment and become aware of how rich Mijas is in the natural environment, learning at the same time to respect and preserve it”, she concluded.
