The Fair and Congress Hall in Malaga hosted on the 29th and 30th of September, the twelfth edition of the Greencities & S-Moving forum, focused on the cities of the future and on all those innovative proposals that make our urban environments more sustainable, accessible and comfortable.

The Local Government of Mijas was present at this forum to learn all about the new trends in this field. “We have come to this meeting wanting to get to know what is being done in other parts of the country to try to apply that which may be interesting to improve the lives of the citizens of Mijas”, said the mayor, Josele González (PSOE), who also assured: “our municipality is already applying some of the measures presented in this space, such as the Gecor mobile application and the use of vehicles that are powered with the latest technologies”.

Work meetings

The work agenda of the Mijas delegation included up to ten meetings carried out during the two days with business persons from the mobility and sustainable management sector. “We have just held a meeting on personal mobility vehicles such as scooters and electric bicycles, and then we will hold another on intelligent bicycle parking spaces… These are very interesting issues for the municipality and some of which we want to implement as soon as possible to promote that healthy and sustainable mobility that we all aim for”, explained the councillor for Transport and Mobility of the Mijas Town Hall, Nicolás Cruz (PSOE).

Panels of experts

Likewise, work tables were held with companies dedicated to the control of low emissions or intelligent water management systems in public facilities, among other topics.

“Here you learn a lot, in fact, there are proposals that are totally unknown to us and this helps us to enrich our methods to ensure sustainability in the municipality”, said the head of the Mobility department, Paqui Lavado.

Companies from Mijas, such as SGR Comunicaciónes, also participate in this forum, which, among its products offered, proposes a capacity control system in public spaces.
