At the end of September, the extension granted by the Local Council of Mijas to the Mijas hoteliers announced in February so that they could temporarily extend their terraces expired. This is a measure from which they can continue to benefit until the end of the year.
“For more than a year now, this measure has favoured the activity of more than one hundred establishments, helping to ensure compliance with the distancing that was imposed by the health and competent authorities”, declared the councillor for Public Roads, Nicolás Cruz (PSOE).
In May 2020, the government team launched this support measure. “It has also favoured the maintenance of jobs and job creation, which are so important at the moment”, said Cruz.
Although it has not been the only measure that the Mijas government has promoted during the health crisis.
“The rates for occupation of public roads have been abolished during the years 2020 and 2021 and, even, two calls for direct aid have been put on the table, such as the OREA Plan and now the Cometha Plan”.
The more than one hundred establishments that had already requested to benefit from this initiative will not have to request the extension, since it will be renewed automatically.
Those new establishments that have not yet joined can request this temporary extension, which expires on December 31st. This will be the last of the extensions, they reported, which will be granted, as long as the current health situation is maintained or improved.
“We are sure that this and other measures that have been implemented have helped to consolidate the hospitality sector in the municipality”, concluded the councillor.
