Thousands of people have passed through the La Cala night market, located in the fairgrounds, during the months of July and August. This is the positive balance that the Mijas Town Hall has made at its end, which is already clearly going to repeat the initiative next summer.

From July 3rd to September 4th, merchants have been able to open their market stalls on Wednesdays and Saturdays also at night, from eight in the afternoon to midnight.

“During the day at this market there can be about 200 people in the busiest hours; at night, we can roughly calculate that in the months of July and August around 10,000 people have passed through this night market”, said the councillor responsible for the area, Verónica Ensberg (PSOE), who summarised this initiative of the Local Government.

“It has been positive because we have started up a new sales option for our vendors”, said the vice president of the Mijas Street Vendors Association, Juan Antonio Burgos, who considered that there have been good sales despite the decrease in the number of tourists.
