On Saturday the 11th the bathers who were enjoying a day on the beach in La Cala were pleasantly surprised, with the presence of two donkeys that were also going to spend the afternoon on the coast. The animals belong to the Donkey Dreamland refuge from La Cala and the tour was organised to publicise this shelter dedicated to the rescue of donkeys that are not in good condition. “With the excuse of holding a meeting with a community of foreigners from the area, we have brought the animals. They asked me to bring two. We have done an excursion up the mountain from the refuge to the beach. It has been a 45-minute journey and everything has been perfect. We wanted to see how the donkeys behaved because we want to continue doing this type of activity”, explained the founder of the refuge, Amaya Isert.

Guarded by the Local Police, the donkeys Julieta and Flor arrived calmly at the beach, where they took a break to eat and regain strength, while watched by many surprised beach-goers. The Donkey Dreamland Sanctuary, located in the La Rosa rural area, was founded a year ago and is dedicated to the rescue, recovery and rehoming of mistreated donkeys. It started with 6 donkeys and today there are 22. It is a place that is much more than a refuge where all kinds of activities are carried out.
