The La Cala de Mijas Lions Club recently held their President’s Lunch at Restaurant El Jinete. This is the first major event for our new President David Kay and the food and venue was great. On a large terrace overlooking the spectacular views around the La Cala Hills nearly 100 supporters enjoyed a wonderful afternoon dancing to the very versatile music of Andres Martinez, certainly a musician with a difference! In David’s welcoming speech, amongst other things his mission this year is to help the homeless and needy - especially those effected by Covid. Everyone was asked to bring some dry foods and toiletries and the response was amazing. A real food mountain quickly appeared and this will be distributed around the area this week. Once again grateful thanks to our sponsors and supporters.W ith their help we raised 1800 euros for our charity. It was also a great surprise to see our Lion’s District Past Presidents Fernando Juanes and his partner Marie-Bell.
