With a more traditional air, they say, than in previous editions, the Celtic Night arrives, another event, already indisputable, on the summer agenda of Mijas. This year's poster brings us national and international groups that, they assure, will make us vibrate with their bagpipes, drums, violins and flutes. This Tuesday, it was presented by the councillor for Tourism, José Carlos Martín (Cs), together with the organisers at the Mijas Pueblo Tourism Office.
The show, which will once again take place in the municipal auditorium, will start at half past nine at night with Payuelas Dúo, made up of two bagpipers, “who will perform Asturian bagpipe music both inside and outside the auditorium. Their music will lead attendees from the steps of the venue to the stage”, said Big Promotions spokesperson, Martin Wood.
Then, they will be able to enjoy “a group called ‘Los Supervivientes’, who play traditional instruments and interpret several of their own songs, as well as popular popular songs”, continues Wood, who pointed out that “this band will be accompanied by dancers, who will offer a show with Irish dances”.
And to close the night, a band of international musicians, well known inside and outside our borders, the Stolen Gnomes, "with which, we are sure, the evening will reach an exciting climax", concluded the promoter of the event. This group has already performed in previous editions of the Celtic Night of Mijas, as one of its members, James Greene, reminds us, who assures that it was “a luxury to play here, it was a magical and fun night in a wonderful place”.
Beer and typical Irish food will also be served and the public will be able to take photos in a themed ‘Photocall’, where an official photographer will also be present.
Celtic and safe night
The Department of Tourism is organising this event once again, adapting it to the circumstances of the pandemic, following a strict anti-COVID protocol and with limited capacity. Tickets must be reserved in advance at the Mijas Pueblo and La Cala tourist office; on the telephones 952 589 034/951 063 785 or through the emails: turismo@mijas.es / turismolacala@mijas.es. “As we did in previous editions and at the Blues Night, held this Saturday, we are going to have all the security measures in place; Mijas is a safe destination and any citizen or tourist who wants to come to enjoy this wonderful night can come with all the peace of mind in the world”, stressed Martín.
And to avoid parking problems, on Celtic Night "we will once again have the shuttle bus, which will take us from the quarry, where we can park our car, to the centre of town", concluded the councillor.
