The Asphalting Plan reaches Miguel Hernández and Ampa Las Caracolas avenues

  • The works increase the safety of both vehicles and pedestrians
  • Martín recalled that these are joined by the Asphalt Improvement and Patching Plan, which is also carried out by municipal staff, and the Asphalt Plan in Urbanisations.

These actions are included in the second phase of this municipal plan for the conservation of public roads, for which 175,000 euros have been allocated

Operative Services is renewing the paving of Miguel Hernández and Ampa Las Caracolas avenues, both located in sector 31 of Las Lagunas, next to the new road that will connect with Camino de Coín and that, according to the councillor of SSOO José Carlos Martín ( Cs), "will open to traffic in a matter of days".

These works are included in the second phase of the Plan for the Conservation and Maintenance of the Asphalting of public roads, which has an approximate investment of 175,000 euros. "We had a first phase in April, in which we invested approximately 130,000 euros in 16 streets, and now we have advanced this second phase, which we usually carry out between September and October, because there were roads that needed more urgent actions", explained Martin.

The councillor also recalled that these asphalting tasks, although they are somewhat annoying for citizens, favour the safety of vehicles and pedestrians, "and are subsequently accompanied by the corresponding renovation of signposting, both horizontal and vertical".

In recent weeks, the asphalting of the section of Camino de Coín that runs from the McDonald roundabout to the Victimas del Terrorismo roundabout has also been completed, while in La Cala work has been done on the section of Mare Nostrum avenue that goes from the junction of the highway until the first roundabout. The streets San Alberto, Virgen de Montserrat and Virgen de la Cabeza have also been improved, all of them adjacent to the new El Juncal car park, as well as a section located in front of the Cortijo Colorado and another of the Paseo Costa del Sol, next to La Butibamba in La Cala, "but the roads that have consumed the largest part of the budget have been Camino de Coín, Avenida Mare Nostrum and those in sector 31".

New works

According to the councillor for Operative Services, "there is a remainder of about 50,000 euros that will be left for new asphalting work after the summer, so that the Asphalting Conservation and Maintenance Plan will count, during this 2021, with more than 350 euros". Martín recalled that these are joined by the Asphalt Improvement and Patching Plan, which is also carried out by municipal staff, and the Asphalt Plan in Urbanisations.
