Like every summer, taking advantage of the fact that the educational centres are empty, the Department for Education is carrying out maintenance and conservation work in all the nursery and primary schools in the municipality. This was announced on Wednesday 21st by the councillor for Education, Mariló Olmedo (Cs), on a visit to the Tamixa school to see how these tasks are carried out. Specifically, the maintenance works consist of “painting all the classrooms in all the schools, the corridors, the libraries, all the common areas that cannot be cleaned during school hours because the children are there”. In addition, the manholes are being cleaned as a preventive measure for the rainy season, all the doors are being checked, the hinges, the locks are greased, the cisterns, the lighting, the gardens are being checked, and so on. All this in collaboration with the Operative Services staff “for larger works”. Furthermore, “during the last week of August all the centres will be cleaned and disinfected again”, said Olmedo, who also visited the CEIP Los Campanales this week, where 28 doors are being changed, including frames and pre-frames; In addition, they will be treated to prevent woodworm.
